Nancy Gleason: Fish Biologist & Nature Photographer

Welcome to my portfolio site! I am a life-long resident of the Pacific Northwest with a passion for sharing scenes of nature through photography.

As a professional fish biologist, my career focuses on salmon ecology and ecosystem restoration through large-scale civil works projects in streams, rivers, and estuaries. Away from work, I enjoy backpacking, sea kayaking, and snowboarding.

To expand on the goal of ecosystem restoration, my primary hobby is nature photography. I love capturing images of fish, wildlife, and landscapes to share with others, especially with people who might not have the opportunity to see all these natural areas in person. My goal is to inspire preservation and restoration of natural landscapes as habitat for fish, wildlife, and plants, as well as for people who enjoy outdoor activities in natural settings. I have a Master of Environmental Studies degree and 25 years of experience as a fish biologist. My education, work, and volunteer experiences have enabled me to understand animal behaviors and habitats, and to identify the species that become my photography subjects.
